How much slimmer is the new PS5 compared to the older model? Not much, it seems, as Dave2D has shared a teardown video that shows off the two systems sitting side by side, revealing a new design for the "Slim" that is said to be "not that much smaller" than what Sony came up with for the original PS5 years ago. This is bad news for those who were expecting something along the lines of the PS2 Slim, which remains fondly remembered for what was truly a thin design, although Dave2D did note that there are some decent changes that can be found under (and above) the hood, including a new fan with a 19-blade design, what appears to be more cooling pipes, and an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive that is very easy to install or unplug. The horizontal stand apparently "sucks" though, while LinusTechTips, who also got his hands on a PS5 Slim, learned that the new system features the same noise levels as the older version and isn't any quieter.
